There are indications in the United States that sports betting operator FanDuel may be preparing to enter the online poker market, a product it has not previously offered.
At the same time, industry observers are discussing the possible disappearance or rebranding of PokerStars in the U.S., with its poker product potentially integrated into the FanDuel ecosystem and relaunched under a new name.
No official statements have been issued. The information is based on indirect signals and reports from industry media, including specialist outlet Pokerfuse.
Both brands are owned by Flutter Entertainment. FanDuel currently focuses on sports betting and online casino operations, while PokerStars specializes in online poker. A consolidation could reduce overlapping costs and combine customer bases within a single platform.
Several factors have fueled speculation about potential changes:
- a job posting for a role within a Poker Analytics team;
- the discovery of test subdomains linked to FanDuel and poker;
- the transfer of a PokerStars manager to FanDuel.
In addition, PokerStars recently cancelled one of its flagship U.S. tournaments, a move that some industry media have linked to possible structural adjustments.
The developments remain speculative. However, a poker launch under the FanDuel brand could mark a significant shift for PokerStars in the U.S. market.
Gambling Park notes that Polymarket CEO accuses DraftKings and FanDuel of creating a duopoly in the betting market.
