Withdrawal speed has become the most important payment-related factor for British bettors when choosing a new bookmaker. iGaming Future reported this, citing research commissioned by industry portal OLBG.
According to the survey, 48.9% of respondents named withdrawal speed as one of the key criteria when choosing an operator.
This put withdrawal speed ahead of other payment-related factors:
- payment method options — 37.7%;
- deposit speed — 24.6%;
- affordability checks* — 16.9%;
- the ability to link a bank account for payments and checks — 15.1%.
More than 62% of respondents said they expect winnings to reach their bank account instantly or within 30 minutes. A further 20.3% said they consider withdrawals within one hour to be acceptable.
The survey also found that users expect identity and payment checks to be completed quickly. Some 27.1% of respondents said such checks should be completed during registration, while 46.3% expect them to take no more than one hour.
Debit cards were the most commonly used payment method among respondents over the past 12 months, at 57.7%. Other payment methods included:
- PayPal — 36.9%;
- bank transfers — 20.3%;
- Apple Pay or Google Pay — 14%.
The research also noted differences between respondent groups. Women were twice as likely as men to name affordability checks as an important factor when registering with a bookmaker — 26% compared with 13%. Men were more likely to focus on the number of available payment methods.
