PokerStars has announced plans to withdraw from Poland’s regulated market. According to Poker Industry Pro, the online poker platform will cease operations in the country by March 27, with all affected players already notified.
“After a thorough review of our business operations, we’ve determined that exiting the Polish market aligns better with Flutter Entertainment’s long-term strategic goals,” the company stated in a release.
While PokerStars has provided an official statement, the specific reasons behind the decision remain unclear. However, parent company Flutter Entertainment has confirmed that the move is unrelated to any recent changes in Poland’s gambling laws.
Last summer, PokerStars exited the Czech market, citing new regulatory measures that increased tax rates for gaming operators.
Over the past year, PokerStars has also withdrawn from Croatia and Peru, with each departure linked to stricter local gambling regulations.
