‘Give Them Your $30 Million’: BetOnline Responds to McGregor’s Demand for Bettor Refunds

BetOnline representative Dave Mason has suggested that Conor McGregor reimburse bettors himself after they lost money backing the Irishman against Max Holloway, MMA Mania reported.

McGregor previously called for the result of their UFC 329 bout to be overturned and declared a no contest. He also urged sportsbooks to refund customers who had wagered on the fight.

The bout took place overnight on July 11–12 in Las Vegas and lasted just 69 seconds. McGregor suffered an injury and was unable to continue, prompting officials to award Holloway a technical knockout victory.

“The official result was a TKO win for Holloway, so that is how we settled the wagers,” Mason said. “MMA is a contact sport, and injuries happen, including early in fights. If Conor felt he was not healthy enough to compete, he should not have stepped into the Octagon.”

The BetOnline representative added that voiding the wagers would be unfair to customers who backed Holloway and had already received their winnings.

“Perhaps if Conor is so concerned about the people who bet on him, he could give them the $30 million he earned from the fight,” Mason said.

Gambling Park notes that the result proved highly profitable for sportsbooks. At DraftKings, for example, 68% of all bets were placed on McGregor, accounting for 92% of the total amount wagered.
