Israeli Chain Babylon Park Accused of Running a “Casino for Kids”

Israeli entertainment center chain Babylon Park is facing legal action over its arcade machines and in-house virtual currency. Two minors, represented by a parent, have asked a court to certify a class-action lawsuit against the company. The claim exceeds 2.5 million shekels (around $824.4 million), according to Ynet.

The plaintiffs allege that Babylon Park locations — which are frequented by children and teenagers — feature paid slot machines, roulette wheels and “wheels of fortune,” with outcomes determined by chance.

According to the claim, these machines effectively replicate casino mechanics while remaining accessible to minors. Visitors are not informed of their odds of winning, and no warnings are displayed, the plaintiffs allege. They are seeking a ban on both the operation and promotion of such devices.

Another complaint concerns the payment system. Visitors cannot pay for games directly in shekels — they must first purchase an in-house currency called “Babylon coins,” which is then used to play the games.

Game prices are listed only in Babylon coins, with no shekel equivalent shown, and the exchange rate varies depending on the size of the package purchased. The plaintiffs argue that this makes it harder for visitors — especially children — to understand how much they are actually spending.

Babylon Park denies the allegations and says the claims against it are unfounded.
