Belarus Regulator Warns Illegal Online Casinos May Expose Players to Terrorism Financing Risks

Belarus’s Ministry of Taxes and Duties, which oversees the country’s licensed online gambling market, has warned players about the risks of using unlicensed online casinos, including potential exposure to terrorism financing and other prohibited financial activity.
The ministry said online casinos are permitted to operate in Belarus only if they hold a valid licence issued by the authorities. Platforms operating without such authorisation are considered illegal.
It also warned that using unlicensed gambling platforms could expose players to the risk of becoming involved in the financing of terrorism, extremism or other prohibited activities.
The ministry added that players using illegal online casinos have no guarantees that their rights will be protected, while funds deposited on such platforms could be lost with no possibility of recovery.
Belarusian authorities recommend checking whether an online casino holds a valid licence before gambling. This can be done free of charge through the country’s Unified Register of Licences.
