Arizona Offers Self-Excluded Gamblers Free Help Managing Debt

Arizona has expanded its free financial counseling program to people who have voluntarily self-excluded from gambling. The state’s Division of Problem Gambling announced the change on August 5.
Previously, the counseling was available only to people enrolled in Arizona’s Treatment Assistance Program. It is now also available to anyone enrolled in the state’s voluntary self-exclusion program.
Financial counselors can help participants manage debt, create a spending plan, set financial safeguards and rebuild damaged credit.
The service provides financial guidance rather than direct debt relief — it does not itself pay off participants’ debts.
In fiscal year 2026, a record 651 Arizona residents enrolled in voluntary self-exclusion. The state offers separate exclusions covering tribal casinos and sports betting and fantasy sports, and participants can choose either or both. Exclusion periods are available for one, five or ten years.
