Apple, Meta, and Google are in hot water for processing purchases in casino apps. The court accuses the companies of enticing users to buy virtual chips.

Users spent over $7 billion on slot machines in the past year alone.

The companies pocketed a 30% cut from each transaction through the app, amounting to over $2 billion in net profit.

The court claims that these companies knowingly support such apps, and thus, they share responsibility for providing access to online casinos. This makes it easier for users to gamble and buy chips.

The corporations plan to appeal and have already stated their position. Representatives from all three companies argue that this lawsuit could threaten the entire internet economy, as they would have to monitor every payment in all apps. They would also have to adapt to each country’s regulations individually to comply with all laws and requirements.

The appeal process is expected to wrap up by December 2023.
