Brazilian football club Flamengo has officially approved a record-breaking sponsorship agreement with bookmaker Betano, the club confirmed late on August 19, as reported by Gambling News. Earlier reports of the deal were preliminary; final approval came only after a vote by the club’s Deliberative Council, which convened at 7 p.m. local time.
Under the partnership, Flamengo will receive 250 million reals annually (about $45.8 million).
Initial reports of Betano’s selection as the new main sponsor surfaced on August 15 following a board meeting, while the official announcement appeared on Flamengo’s website on August 18.
The contract runs for three years and four months, starting in September 2025, and will cover multiple areas of the club’s activities, including:
- men’s and women’s football,
- Olympic sports such as volleyball and basketball,
- and the club’s official YouTube channel, Flamengo TV.
According to journalist Lukasz Bączek, Flamengo reviewed seven offers, with only Betano, Sportingbet, and Superbet making serious bids. Although Superbet was initially seen as the frontrunner, Betano ultimately secured the contract. The bookmaker’s logo will now appear on Flamengo’s kit.
The deal sets a new benchmark in Brazilian football sponsorship.
Previously, the record belonged to Corinthians, which signed a three-year deal with VaideBet worth about $75.85 million. However, in terms of annual payouts, Flamengo has surpassed its historic rival by a wide margin.
