Prediction market platform Kalshi added 3 million new users during the 2026 FIFA World Cup, CNBC reported, citing company data.
User engagement also rose sharply during the tournament. By the end of June, the number of users visiting the platform each day had increased by 36% compared with the middle of the month.
Kalshi’s market on the World Cup winner generated more than $1.2 billion in trading volume, equivalent to approximately 94.1 billion rubles. It was the highest volume ever recorded by the platform for a single market.
The figure refers to trading volume, not Kalshi’s revenue.
The surge in users coincided with a major advertising campaign. Kalshi displayed co-branded advertising at stadiums through FIFA partner ADI Predictstreet, released promotional videos featuring Luka Modrić and José Mourinho, and partnered with Argentina’s national team.
Kalshi now faces the challenge of retaining those users after the tournament. CEO Tarek Mansour acknowledged that trading volume declined on days without matches, but said the company hopes to maintain interest through other major events.
Kalshi’s sports markets remain controversial in the United States. The platform operates under the oversight of the Commodity Futures Trading Commission, while authorities in several states argue that its sports contracts amount to sports betting and should comply with local gambling laws.
