Unibet

Unibet, the betting company that sponsors the Dutch football club Utrecht, has voluntarily removed its logo from the players’ jerseys.

Instead of the bookmaker’s logo, QR codes in the shape of a heart will be displayed on the sleeves, leading to a website that showcases Utrecht’s social projects.

Unibet is not the only betting company that has done this. Recently, Danske Spil, the sponsor of one of the top Danish teams (Brøndby IF), also opted not to display its brand on the players’ clothing.

These moves are meant to raise awareness about the issue of betting and remind viewers to gamble responsibly.

Meanwhile, the Netherlands is preparing to ban all gambling sponsorships in its top football league from 2025 onwards.
