Former Celtic and Scotland striker Leigh Griffiths is under investigation for alleged match-fixing and betting, The Sun reported.
An arrest warrant has been issued for the 35-year-old, and Scottish authorities are seeking his return from Australia, where he currently plays for Stirling Macedonia.
Griffiths had previously come under scrutiny in connection with the same investigation. In 2022, he was questioned over sports betting-related allegations, which he denied at the time.
Several other individuals are also implicated in the case, including former Celtic player Paul McGowan, as well as Mark McNulty, Keaghan Jacobs and Conan McDiarmid.
McGowan, McNulty, Jacobs and McDiarmid have already appeared in court in Edinburgh. They face two charges related to alleged conspiracy and participation in a fraudulent scheme. At this stage, they have been released on bail.
Griffiths is best known for his time at Celtic, where he spent eight years, making 261 appearances and scoring 123 goals while winning seven Scottish league titles. He also earned 22 caps for Scotland, scoring four goals. One of the most notable moments of his career came on June 10, 2017, when he scored twice against England in a World Cup qualifier.
Gambling Park previously reported that French tennis player Quentin Folliot was banned for 20 years over match-fixing.
