The International Tennis Integrity Agency (ITIA) has suspended six tennis players and one coach for match-fixing, betting and other breaches of tennis anti-corruption rules.
Jasel Beltre, a 24-year-old player from the Dominican Republic, received the longest sanction.
Beltre was banned for 20 years and fined $55,000 for involvement in match-fixing and for attempting to persuade other players to manipulate match outcomes. The case involved 11 matches played between November 2022 and March 2024.
Several other sanctions also involved players from the Dominican Republic:
- Jossting Cruz, 20, was banned for two years and fined $2,500 for attempting to influence the outcome of two of his own matches in 2023 and 2024, and for failing to report corrupt approaches from Beltre.
- Ángel Maleno Rosario, 22, was banned for three years and fined $2,000 for agreeing to influence the outcome of a doubles match in 2022 in exchange for money.
- Jesus Maleno Rosario, Ángel’s brother and doubles partner, was banned for three months and fined $500 for being aware that the match had been fixed but failing to report it.
Chinese player Lu Pengyu was banned for six years and fined $25,000 for involvement in match-fixing in 2024 and 2025, and for refusing to cooperate with an investigation.
Slovak coach Igor Zelenay was banned for nine months and fined $5,000 for attempting to buy a wild card — a special invitation allowing a player to enter a tournament outside the usual ranking-based qualification process — for one of his players.
Irish player Dorian Kos was banned for two months and fined $4,000 for betting on tennis over a two-year period. The ITIA said the bets were placed on matches in which Kos was not involved and over which he had no influence.
