The Betting Control and Licensing Board (BCLB) of Kenya has acknowledged difficulties in blocking the popular crash game* Aviator, which is currently available through local betting operators. The statement was reported by Sigma.World.
According to the BCLB, the Kenyan government cannot block the game because its servers are located outside the country.
Aviator is developed by Spribe, a company registered in Poland with offices across various countries. Spribe supplies its product to betting operators, and so far, Kenyan authorities have not found a way to prevent its distribution.
Earlier, Kenyan Member of Parliament Martha Wangari questioned the legality of Aviator in Kenya, stating that the game is actively promoted in local media.
Wangari cited examples where students used money intended for tuition to play the game. She also claimed that some parents have become involved as well, wagering their last funds in hopes of turning a quick profit.
A petition calling for a ban on Aviator in Kenya was published on Change.org on April 1, 2025. As of this publication, it has only 401 signatures.
* Crash games are a type of online casino game where the odds multiply as a visual element (such as a plane in Aviator) ascends. Players must cash out before the object “crashes” to win. The longer they wait, the higher the multiplier — but the risk of losing everything also grows.
