American rap icon Jay-Z has placed a substantial wager with Fanatics Sportsbook on the outcome of the NBA Finals, The New York Post reports.
The music mogul reportedly bet $1,000,000 on the Oklahoma City Thunder to defeat the Indiana Pacers and win the championship series with a 4-1 scoreline.
The odds for this specific outcome were set at 3.30 (decimal), meaning a successful bet would yield a total payout of $3,300,000, netting Jay-Z a profit of $2,300,000.
As of now, Jay-Z’s bold wager is still in play. The NBA Finals opened with the Indiana Pacers narrowly defeating the Thunder 111–110 in Game 1. However, Oklahoma City bounced back in Game 2 with a dominant 123–107 victory to even the series.
To win the bet, the Thunder must now claim three straight victories — a challenging task, but not impossible.
Earlier this year, Gambling Park also reported on high-stakes wagers by fellow rapper Drake, including bets placed on the NHL playoffs.
