Turkey is getting ready for the presidential runoff this Sunday, May 28th. The analysts and experts have their predictions, but so do the bookies.
According to the analysts, the betting odds are not in favor of Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu, the challenger of Turkey’s incumbent president, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. For instance, at 1xBet, you can get 6.0 for a wager on his win. The odds for Erdoğan’s victory are 1.12.
If you do the math and factor in the margin, you’ll see that the bookies think Erdoğan has a nearly 85% chance of staying in power.
That means Kılıçdaroğlu has a slim chance of scoring a surprise win — just over 15%.
Other betting platforms, such as Bwin and Smarkets, have similar odds for the event.
In the first round, Erdoğan came out on top with 49.5% of the votes, while Kılıçdaroğlu got 45%. But that was not enough for either candidate to secure a majority and avoid a runoff.
