The International Betting Integrity Association (IBIA) has unveiled its Q1 2024 report, shedding light on the landscape of potential match-fixing worldwide.

A total of 56 red flags were raised in the world of sports betting from January to March. Here’s how the numbers break down by sport:

  • Football: 24 alerts
  • Tennis: 14 alerts
  • Basketball: 9 alerts
  • eSports: 6 alerts
  • Table Tennis: 2 alerts
  • Cricket: 1 alert

Asia took the lead with 23 events suspected of outcome manipulation, making it the region with the highest number of flagged matches. North America and South America tied for second place, each with 10 events. Europe followed with 4 events, while Africa had three more suspicious events added to its tally.

Interestingly, the first quarter saw no potential fixings in Australia, Oceania, Russia, or the post-Soviet countries.

It’s important to note that the eSports events in the IBIA report aren’t attributed to any specific region. This discrepancy explains why the total number of potential fixed matches in Q1 (56) differs from the regional statistics (50).
