Leny Mitjana

Leny Mitjana, a French tennis player, has been slapped with a 10-year ban from the sport for his involvement in a match-fixing scandal. The International Tennis Integrity Agency (ITIA) announced the disqualification on its website.

The ban is related to a criminal case that involved a match-fixing syndicate that bribed tennis players from different countries. The mastermind behind the scheme, Belgian Grigor Sargsyan, was sentenced to 5 years in prison.

According to the ITIA press release, Mitjana took part in match-fixing activities in 2017 and 2018. He denies the charges, but the ITIA has evidence to the contrary.

Mitjana is accused of facilitating betting, manipulating match results, influencing other players to underperform, and more.

Mitjana can’t play, train, or go to any tennis events run by the sport’s authorities until December 21, 2033. He also has to pay a $20,000 fine.
