Forbes Australia has released its “50 richest people in Australia 2023“, which includes the most successful businessmen from the land Down Under, with a combined net worth of $213 billion. This is a 70% increase compared to the last time the list was published in 2019.

Among the list of Forbes’ individuals are representatives of the gambling industry.

James Packer, a shareholder of the Australian casino operator Crown Resorts, which manages establishments in Australia and London, was ranked 17th. The 55-year-old man’s fortune is estimated at $2.8 billion.

The 23rd spot in the ranking went to Len Ainsworth and his family. Ainsworth, who is 99 years old, founded Aristocrat Leisure, one of the world’s largest companies specializing in the production of gaming equipment, in 1953. Despite being nearly a century old, Ainsworth still maintains the right to a portion of the revenue in case of the sale of Aristocrat Leisure, which he split between his sons and ex-wife. Ainsworth previously held a stake in the Austrian company Novomatic, but he sold it five years ago. According to Forbes, the family’s fortune is estimated to be $2.2 billion

Once again, Executive Chairman of mining company Hancock Prospecting Gina Rinehart has topped the list of «50 Richest People in Australia 2023» with a fortune of $30.6 billion.

It’s worth noting that 23 people from Forbes’ 2022 billionaires list were representatives of the gambling industry.
