Italian authorities are investigating the sale of the San Siro stadium to AC Milan, Inter Milan, Corriere dello Sport reported. Financial police conducted searches and seized electronic devices from individuals involved in the case.
The stadium was previously owned by the city of Milan. The sale was completed in November 2025, with the municipality receiving approximately €197 million.
Searches were carried out at Milan City Hall, the offices of M-I Stadio, the joint stadium operator owned by the clubs, and the homes of officials, managers, and consultants linked to the project.
The investigation is being coordinated by the Milan prosecutor’s office and conducted by the economic police unit.
Prosecutors are examining potential violations related to the transaction, including possible collusion in the tender process, and the disclosure of confidential information. Mobile phones were seized to review communications.
The investigation was prompted by complaints filed with the prosecutor’s office, including those from public activists. Authorities are examining whether the transaction may have been conducted with violations and whether it favored private companies at the expense of the city’s interests. No official conclusions have been announced.
