Paris Mayor Emmanuel Grégoire has said the city could consider selling the Parc des Princes stadium to football club Paris Saint-Germain (PSG), telling Franceinfo that talks with the club are set to resume, with the aim of reaching an agreement by the end of the summer.
The stadium, where PSG have played since 1974, is owned by the city of Paris. Previous discussions over a potential sale or redevelopment stalled under former mayor Anne Hidalgo, who opposed selling the venue. Amid the deadlock, the club’s management had considered relocating outside the capital, with suburbs such as Massy and Poissy among the options.
Grégoire said he intends to reopen dialogue with PSG and submit the matter to the Paris Council, which has final authority over such decisions. Two options are under consideration: a long-term lease or a sale under certain conditions.
He added that, if the stadium is sold, all proceeds would be reinvested into the development of the city’s sports infrastructure and public spaces.
Grégoire also stressed the city’s interest in keeping the club in Paris. PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi had previously raised the possibility of relocation amid the lack of agreement with the city. Following the change in the mayor’s office, both sides have signalled a willingness to resume contact, with the club’s president already congratulating the new mayor and a visit expected in the near future.
Earlier, Gambling Park reported that PSG had extended its partnership with bookmaker 1xBet.
