Mert Hakan Yandaş, Fenerbahçe captain
Fenerbahçe captain and midfielder Mert Hakan Yandaş has been handed a 12-month ban for breaching betting-related rules. The decision was issued by the Turkish Football Federation’s disciplinary committee.
In its official statement, the federation said Yandaş had been sanctioned for a “betting-related act,” but did not provide further details. The decision was made under Article 57/2 of the disciplinary regulations, which covers breaches of the ban on involvement in football-related betting.
Fenerbahçe strongly criticised the ruling. The club called the sanction unacceptable and said it would appeal the decision to the Turkish Football Federation’s Arbitration Board. The Istanbul club also stressed that it continues to support its captain.
Yandaş’ case comes against the backdrop of a wider investigation into illegal betting and suspected match-fixing in Turkish football. In December 2025, the player was arrested on suspicion of betting offences and spent several months in custody. Dozens of people, including Süper Lig players, were also detained as part of the case.
Earlier, Gambling Park reported on a major match-fixing investigation in Czech football.
