Lucas Paqueta

West Ham midfielder Lucas Paqueta is ready to sue the Football Association (FA) over a betting probe that has tarnished his reputation. Football Insider reports that he will take legal action if the FA doesn’t charge him officially after probing into betting irregularities.

The probe dates back to last year, when the FA started looking into a shady yellow card that Paqueta got in a Premier League match.

The red flag was raised by Betway, the bookmaker that sponsors West Ham. Word has it that big bets were placed on Paqueta getting a yellow card, and they paid off. This raised suspicions that Paqueta was involved in the scheme.

To make matters worse, the probe cost Paqueta a chance to join Manchester City last summer. The transfer was in the works, but it fell apart when the FA investigation came to light.

The FA was supposed to keep the probe under wraps, to avoid damaging Paqueta’s image, but the news leaked out. Now, everyone is waiting for the results, which should come out soon. If Paqueta is innocent, the FA will likely face a lawsuit. The amount of the lawsuit is unknown, but losing a transfer to Manchester City is no small change.
