The All India Football Federation (AIFF) president Kalyan Chaubey has ordered an investigation into a bizarre incident of two own goals scored in a match in the Delhi Football League, according to local media reports.
The match involved the teams Ahbab and Rangers, and both football officials and fans smelled something like match-fixing, and it looks like they were right.
Ahbab FC was cruising to a 4-0 victory, with less than five minutes left on the clock, and nothing seemed to threaten their lead. But then, things took a weird turn. In a matter of minutes, Ahbab players netted two own goals, a hard-to-believe blunder for any pro player.
What’s more, the Rangers players didn’t even bother to chase the ball during these incidents; they just stood by and watched the spectacle.
The match ended with a 4-2 win for Ahbab, but the controversy was far from over.
