Arrest of a Suspect in a Macau Casino Fraud Case
A 52-year-old man from mainland China has been arrested in Macau after finding a way to get his losing slot machine bets refunded. According to Hou Kong Daily News, he got six losing bets cancelled in an hour.
Here’s how it worked: the man would place a bet on a slot machine and wait for the result. If he lost, he would kick the machine several times.
The machine would then start flashing, indicating a technical malfunction. As a result, the wager would be voided and the money returned to the player.
This allowed the man to keep his winnings when he won and recover his stakes when he lost.
Casino staff noticed his suspicious behaviour. After reviewing CCTV footage, they discovered that he had been deliberately striking the machine with his foot whenever he lost.
Representatives of the casino, which has not been named, contacted the police and handed over the footage.
The casino put its losses at no less than $1,690, while the suspect’s net profit from the scheme was $455.

The man was arrested on suspicion of defrauding a casino.
