CGA notice on the temporary shutdown of its online licensing portal
The Curaçao Gaming Authority (CGA) has issued additional guidance for operators following the shutdown of its online portal, portal.cga.cw, which is used to submit gambling licence applications and regulatory documents.
The main website of the Curaçao Gaming Authority (CGA), cga.cw, remains operational, and a link to further information about the outage has been posted there.
In its latest notice, the regulator said the portal will remain unavailable until further notice.
Operators have been instructed not to send documents intended for submission through the portal by email, including to email addresses used for licence applications.
The CGA explained that such documents cannot currently be processed through alternative channels.
Deadlines for documents that must be submitted through the portal have also been postponed. The regulator said revised deadlines will be announced once the system is restored. For example, if an operator was required to submit documents through the portal by a specific date, that deadline will be extended.
The portal outage does not affect the validity of licences that have already been issued. Licensed operators are still required to comply with all regulatory requirements, while the CGA continues to supervise their activities.
The CGA first reported unauthorised access to its online portal on September 17. The regulator and its system provider launched an investigation to establish how the incident occurred and determine what data may have been affected.
It later emerged that German IT security researcher Lilith Wittmann had gained access to documents stored in the CGA system. She published some of the materials, after which information about the owners and beneficial owners of gambling companies became publicly available.
