Georgia Ready to Issue International Licences to Online Casinos and Sportsbooks

Georgia is preparing for the full launch of its international licensing regime for online casinos and sportsbooks and is ready to onboard foreign operators, according to SBC News.

The international licences are intended for operators targeting players outside Georgia. Licensed operators will not be allowed to offer gambling services to Georgian citizens.

The legal framework for the new regime has been in place since July 2026. Operators can obtain separate permits for casino games, online slots and sports betting. Each permit is valid for five years.

International operators will also be able to access Georgian banking services, process payments locally and connect to the country’s regulatory monitoring system.

The tax rate is set at 5% of gross gaming revenue (GGR), with an additional 1% fee charged for regulatory monitoring. The annual fee for each permit is GEL 100,000 (about $38,500).

Georgia International Strategic Group (GISG) is responsible for attracting foreign operators and assisting them throughout the licensing process. The company has been authorised to represent the new regime internationally. The first licensees are already preparing to launch, although their names have not yet been disclosed.

Georgia is seeking to attract operators focused on international markets, including Europe, Asia, the CIS and Central Asia.
