Sportradar, a Swiss company that specializes in sports data and integrity, has struck a deal with three Brazilian soccer federations to create an online program to combat match-fixing.
The deal, which was reported by iGaming Brasil, involves the soccer federations of the states of Santa Catarina, Paraná, and Gaúcha.
These federations will get access to an educational platform that features videos and materials on various topics, such as:
- How match-fixing works.
- How match-fixing is linked to organized crime.
- How match-fixers use tactics and methods to rig games.
- How the betting market operates.
- How the betting market works and what rules apply in Brazil and abroad.
- What are the consequences of getting involved in match-fixing.
After completing the program, soccer players, coaches, and referees will have to take a test to prove their knowledge. If they pass, they will receive a certificate of completion, though it’s not clear what it’s good for.
The deal comes after the Federal Police of Brazil announced that they would work with Sportradar to crack down on match-fixing.
