Former Liberian footballer James Debbah, who played for prestigious European clubs such as Monaco, Lyon, and PSG in the 90s, has accused the President of the Liberia Football Association, Mustapha Raji, and Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports, Andy Kwame, of manipulating match outcomes.

According to Front Page Africa, Mustapha Raji is also the owner of LISCR, a top-tier club in Liberia. Meanwhile, Andy Kwame, who holds a high-ranking government position, manages the Watanga team.

The ex-PSG forward alleges that matches involving these clubs are rigged with the tacit support of referees.

He claims that no referee in the country could be impartial while refereeing LISCR and Watanga matches as it could lead to disqualification.

Debbah further added that the teams’ performances in Liberia usually end in triumph due to the unofficial assistance, but their games outside the country reflect the clubs’ real level of preparation. It is worth noting that neither LISCR nor Watanga has ever made it past the second round of international competitions.

Apart from his accusation, Debbah is indirectly involved in Liberian politics. His cousin, George Weah, a former footballer, is the current President of Liberia.
