Donald Trump
A user on the Polymarket platform has placed a $100,000 bet that U.S. President Donald Trump will succeed in acquiring Greenland by the end of 2026, Finbold reported.
At the time the bet was placed, the probability of such an outcome was estimated at around 16%. At those odds, the potential payout was approximately $580,000–$590,000. By the time of publication, the implied probability of a “yes” outcome had risen to about 21%, indicating growing interest among market participants.

The total volume of funds committed to this market exceeds $14 million, making it one of the most actively traded geopolitical contracts on Polymarket.
Throughout December, the implied probability remained in single digits, before posting a sharp increase in January followed by a period of stabilisation.
Interest in the market is driven not only by speculative trading but also by the broader geopolitical context. Trump has previously spoken publicly about the possibility of acquiring Greenland, citing its strategic importance to the United States in the Arctic and in the context of competition with Russia and China. Authorities in Greenland and Denmark—of which the island is an autonomous territory—have repeatedly stated that the sale of the territory is not under consideration.
