Brazilian bookmaker Pixbet is seeking a buyer following difficulties encountered in the country’s regulated market, NEXT.io reported, citing several industry sources.
Founded in 2020, Pixbet was regarded as one of Brazil’s largest domestic bookmakers before the introduction of the new regulatory framework. The brand gained widespread recognition through extensive advertising and sponsorship deals with football clubs, including Flamengo.
The company’s position weakened after Brazil’s regulated betting market launched in 2025.
The national regulator temporarily suspended Pixbet’s operations over failures to comply with regulatory requirements. A court later also halted the company’s activities over inadequate age-verification procedures, including the absence of facial recognition technology.
The situation was further complicated by the end of Pixbet’s sponsorship deal with Flamengo amid reports of delayed payments, as well as growing competition from international operators.
Pixbet’s owners are now looking for a buyer capable of helping the company meet the new requirements and regain its position in the market.
DraftKings had previously explored a possible entry into Brazil. The US company held talks over potential deals with several local bookmakers but ultimately abandoned those plans.
