Kentucky

Last week, Kentucky officially launched legal online sports betting, Forbes reports.

Online sports betting came to Kentucky just two weeks after the state allowed in-person sports betting.

Governor Andy Beshear shared some early numbers for the first two weeks of retail betting. Players wagered about $4.5 million in that time.

Online players in Kentucky have to be at least 18 years old, according to the rules. But some bookmakers may have their own age limits. For example, Caesars Sportsbook and FanDuel only accept players who are 21+.

Besides these companies, online users in Kentucky can also bet through other bookmakers’ apps, such as Bet MGM, Bet365, Barstool Sportsbook, DraftKings, and Fanatics. Circa Sports is expected to join the list by the end of the year.

Let’s talk about the taxes for the bookmakers in the state. In-person betting operators will pay 9.75% of their revenue, while online bookmakers will pay 14.25%. Plus, bookmakers will give 2.5% of their revenue to support the Problem Gambling Assistance Fund.

Note: Kentucky is the 35th state in America where players can bet on sports, and the 25th state where online betting is available.
