Erik Gutierrez, a 23-year-old scammer who posed as the owner of Circa Hotel & Casino Las Vegas and tricked the staff into handing over $1 million, is now behind bars.
The crook first asked for $320,000, saying he had to pay the fire department for fire safety equipment. He then sweet-talked the casino into giving him 3 more payments, totaling $1,170,000.
The casino supervisor fell for the ruse, thinking he was talking to the real owner on the phone.
On June 17, the Vegas police got a tip of a possible scam at Circa Hotel & Casino, located in the gambling city. One of the hotel security guards told the authorities that an unknown person had called the casino. The caller, later identified as Erik Gutierrez, claimed to be the owner of Circa Hotel & Casino.

However, Gutierrez’s luck ran out when the cops tracked him down and arrested him. He now faces charges of theft and impersonation.
