The Dutch gambling watchdog, Kansspelautoriteit (KSA), has some ideas on how to improve the gambling legislation in the country. The regulator has sent a list of suggestions to the government, hoping to get more power to crack down on rule-breakers.

One of them is to let the KSA go undercover and create fake accounts on licensed gambling sites. This way, the regulator can check if the operators are playing by the rules.

Right now, only the National Office for Identity Data can do this kind of undercover work. But the KSA thinks that they can do a better job and catch more violators.

Another suggestion is to change the self-exclusion system for players who have a gambling problem. The regulator wants to be able to add players to the list at their relatives’ or operators’ request. The KSA also thinks that the self-exclusion period should be longer: currently, it’s a measly 6 months.
