Over thirty Brazilian football clubs have joined forces to write a letter to the Senate, asking them to rethink their plans to ban betting ads at football stadiums, according to Casino.org.
Brazil is in the process of setting up new rules and regulations for the sports betting sector. One of the hot topics is betting advertising. The Brazilian Senate is thinking about banning bookmakers’ ads in stadiums, including team jerseys, and also blocking sponsorship deals between clubs and betting operators.
A total of 33 Brazilian football clubs have expressed their disapproval of such a move, warning of the huge revenue loss that would follow the proposed ban.
Some of the clubs that are against the ban are Atlético Mineiro, Atlético Paranaense, and Santos, which all have partnerships with betting companies like Betano, Blaze, and Betsson. The clubs are from both the top and the second-tier Brazilian Football League.
The Senate has promised to finish the discussion on the sports betting bill by the end of this year. But it’s still unclear when the official betting regulations will take effect in Brazil. That’s still up in the air.
