Asian handicap +2.5 and -2.5 (aka point spread) is a type of half-goal spread where you add or subtract 2.5 goals to or from a team’s score before the game begins.
Note: You can use this for any sport where teams can score (like goals, points, pucks, sets).
- -2.5 means your team is behind by 2.5 goals at the start. They need to score 3 more goals or more than the other team to win your bet. 2.5 goals are taken away from their final score.
- +2.5 means your team is ahead by 2.5 goals at the start. They can tie or even lose by up to 2 goals to win your bet. 2.5 goals are added to their final score.
- +/-2.5 also means there are no draws. You either win or lose. This is different from the regular whole-goal handicap, where you can get your money back if the game is a draw after the bet.
Note: The + or – sign tells you which team is ahead or behind. The number (2.5) tells you how much they are ahead or behind by.
