Italian Football Player Sandro Tonali Gets Treatment for Gambling Addiction

Sandro Tonali, the midfielder for Newcastle United and the Italian national team, has admitted he has a gambling problem. He has agreed to get treatment for his addiction, following his agent’s advice.

The footballer told his friends that he was hooked on betting and feared losing everything because of it.

Tonali said that gambling used to be just a fun pastime for him, but it turned into an obsession.

He also said that he wants to work with the Italian Football Federation (FIGC) and give talks to young players to warn them not to make the same mistakes. Tonali is only 23 years old.

You may remember that Tonali and Nicolo Zaniolo of Aston Villa were investigated for illegal betting by Italian authorities. They were questioned at the national team’s base in Coverciano, and then they had to leave the team.

Another player under investigation is Juventus’ Nicolo Fagioli, who is also accused of betting with bookies. Both Fagioli and Tonali have confessed to their gambling addiction. This could help them get lighter punishments, as gambling addiction could be seen as a mitigating factor.
