Wynn Resorts has revealed the design and name of its upcoming casino in the Emirate of Ras Al-Khaimah (UAE), according to GGR Asia. The gaming establishment is set to be named Wynn Al Marjan Island.
Al Marjan, named after an artificial archipelago of four man-made islands in the Persian Gulf, is set to become the first casino in the country.
Wynn Resorts will manage the casino set to open in early 2027. Along with revealing its name, the company showcased renderings of the establishment’s interior and exterior to the public.
The casino will feature a hotel with 1,500 rooms and a total area of 510,900 sq m. Additionally, there will be 12,000 sq m of retail space, 9,200 sq m of exhibition and conference halls, and 20,800 sq m of gaming areas.
According to analysts, Wynn Al Marjan Island will follow the Las Vegas casino model in terms of non-gaming revenue streams, yet the gambling component is expected to be substantial in generating significant profits.
The government has yet to release details on industry regulation.
However, it is expected that the casino tax will be around 10-12% of gross gaming revenue (GGR*).
Wynn Resorts has partnered with Marjan Properties, a developer, and RAK Hospitality Holding LLC, a hotel operator, on this project. Both companies are based in Ras Al-Khaimah, where the casino will be located.
* GGR — is a financial metric used in the gambling industry to measure gross revenue. It represents the difference between the amount wagered minus the amount won.
