self-exclusion

iGaming Business reports that more UK gamblers than ever signed up for Gamstop, the national self-exclusion system, in 2023.

Last year, about 92,000 players in the UK decided to quit gambling for good. That’s a 9.5% jump from the previous record of 84,000 registrations in 2022.

Gamstop now has 433,357 players on its list.

Most of them (55%) chose to ban themselves from gambling for the longest possible time. The other options are six months and one year.

The Gamstop report also shows some other interesting facts. For example, May 2023 was the busiest month for Gamstop, with 8,591 registrations. The report also says that there was a 31% increase in registrations among young Brits aged 16 to 24 in 2023.
