During an address to the Israeli parliament (the Knesset) on October 13, 2025, U.S. President Donald Trump expressed his gratitude to Miriam Adelson, the major investor and owner of the international gaming conglomerate Las Vegas Sands.
According to Reuters, Trump described Adelson as “one of the most influential figures” in shaping Washington’s policy toward Israel.
The president praised her steadfast support for Israel and her involvement in efforts to secure the release of hostages as part of the new peace agreement between Israel and Hamas, the Palestinian organization governing the Gaza Strip.
Trump recalled that Miriam and her late husband, Sheldon Adelson — founder of Las Vegas Sands — were frequent guests at the White House and actively participated in discussions on key Middle East initiatives. With a smile, Trump joked that Sheldon, known for his persistence, “would have come in through the window if he couldn’t get through the door.”
The president called Miriam “a remarkable woman, devoted to both Israel and the United States,” noting that she encouraged him to continue efforts to bring home Israeli hostages abducted by Hamas during the October 2023 attack.
Following Sheldon Adelson’s death in 2021, Miriam took over as chair of Las Vegas Sands (LVS) — one of the world’s largest casino and resort operators. Despite its name, the company no longer owns properties in Las Vegas: in 2022, LVS sold its Strip assets and shifted focus to international projects. The company now operates major resorts and casinos in Macau and Singapore, including Marina Bay Sands, Venetian Macau, Londoner Macau, Parisian Macau, and Sands Macau.
Trump’s speech came shortly after the signing of a peace agreement between Israel and Hamas, under which the two sides exchanged prisoners and hostages.
Earlier, Gambling Park reported that Miriam Adelson and her family ranked 25th on Forbes’ list of the 400 richest Americans, with a net worth of $37.9 billion.
