Hard Rock Casino Northern Indiana has donated $25,000 to the K-9 unit of the Gary Police Department (Indiana, USA) to purchase and support a new four-legged officer — a service dog named Phouka, The Lansing Journal reports.
The funds were used to cover the dog’s training, equipment, and upkeep.
Phouka is certified in patrol work, narcotics detection, and officer protection, and is also trained to locate explosives and firearms.
He and his handler, Corporal Anne Malinoff, completed training at the International Police Working Dog Association in July 2025.

Such sponsorships are not uncommon in the United States — private companies often support law enforcement agencies by funding specialized equipment or service animals. In this case, the contribution came from a casino.
