Phil Mickelson, one of the greatest golfers of all time, has opened up about his gambling addiction in a candid X (formerly Twitter) post.

The 6-time major winner admitted that he has been struggling with betting for years and is now undergoing rehab.

He also warned his fans not to fall into the same trap and to keep their gambling habits in check.

Phil’s confession comes after his former pal, notorious gambler Billy Walters, published a tell-all book in August 2023, revealing juicy details about the golfer’s betting spree. Mickelson took a jab at Walters in his post, saying:

«If you ever cross the line of moderation and enter into addiction, hopefully you won’t confuse your enablers as friends like I did. Hopefully you won’t have to deal with these difficult moments publicly so others can profit off you like I have».

Mickelson clarified that money was never an issue for him; he could afford to lose millions on bets without hurting his bank account. But gambling became an obsession that robbed him of happiness and caused a lot of pain in his family.

Now, Mickelson claims that he has found inner peace, but he still has to work hard to mend his relationships with his loved ones. He ended his post with a heartfelt message to his followers: «In my experience, the moments with the ones you love will be far more remembered than any bet you win or fantasy league triumph».
