Indonesia’s Communication and Information Minister, Budi Arie Setiadi, has issued a stern warning to Meta, the parent company of Facebook and Instagram, to remove all gambling ads from its platforms.
The warning is aimed at blocking or deleting gambling ads for Indonesian users, where gambling is illegal.
The ministry hasn’t given a specific deadline for compliance, but they’ve made it clear that they will take action against Meta if it fails to meet their demands.
“We have not set a deadline, but we request that it be done as soon as possible. We are monitoring it continuously.”
It’s worth noting that Meta already bans gambling ads from being shown to Indonesian users, according to its own policies. However, some ads still slip through the cracks.
