Gambling News reports that the streaming platform Kick.com has been shut down in Greece. Users of the platform found this out on June 20th.
Kick.com, co-owned by Ed Craven, the founder of the bookie Stake.com, claims to be a more relaxed platform for casino ads than its rival streaming service, Twitch. But, as we can see, this may not fly in some places.
It turns out that the service has been blacklisted as a gambling website (by the Hellenic Gaming Commission) for offering unauthorized gambling services.
The commission blamed the Slots Gang section for the shutdown, where streamers plug various online casinos.
Kick.com has already spoken up about the situation to Dexerto: “We are experiencing a temporary problem with access to the platform in Greece and we are working with Greek ISPs to resolve the issue. An individual channel appears to have been blocked by a specific ISP resulting in the whole domain mistakenly being blocked”.
