self-exclusion

The Danish Gambling Authority, Spillemyndigheden, has announced that the Danish self-exclusion registry (known as ROFUS), has reached a significant milestone with 50,000 registered individuals.

ROFUS, established in 2012, provides a centralized system for private individuals to voluntarily exclude themselves from online gambling, land-based casinos, and betting shops.

Players have the flexibility to choose between indefinite self-exclusion or temporary exclusions for specific periods. After the exclusion period ends, their data are purged from the registry, and they can resume availing services from operators.

A closer look at the data reveals that out of the 50,000 individuals registered in ROFUS, a substantial 64% (32,000 individuals) have chosen permanent exclusion.

The remaining 36% have opted for temporary exclusion, with periods ranging from 24 hours to 6 months.
