Brazil’s regulated online gambling market contributed nearly €600 million in tax revenue to the state budget during the first half of 2025, according to a report from the Brazilian Ministry of Finance.
Gambling Park notes that Brazil officially launched its regulated online gambling market on January 1, 2025, following the adoption of relevant legislation.
Experts expect that tax revenues will continue to grow, as the country’s online gambling market is still developing, attracting increasing numbers of operators looking to enter Brazil.
“As regulatory frameworks are still being implemented, and many operators are in the process of adapting or applying for licenses, the government likely anticipates that tax revenues will progressively rise over time,” a representative from the law firm Bichara e Motta Advogados told CasinoNieuws.
Despite these optimistic forecasts, Brazilian gambling operators may face certain challenges in the near future. Recent decisions by Brazil’s Senate to restrict gambling advertising and temporarily increase the tax rate on operators’ gross revenue—from 12% to 18%—could complicate market conditions.
