A Swedish court has ruled in favor of the bookmaker Betsson in a dispute against a client who claimed 4.7 million Swedish krona (about $457,000), according to Feber.

The case was the first of its kind in Sweden, where a private individual took a gambling company to court for damages.

The case revolves around the plaintiff, who had been a Betsson client for three years and had wagered 59 million krona (over $5.7 million). He lost about $457,000 during the stated period and sued to get it back.

His claim was that the VIP offer was a way of ignoring his gambling addiction and enticing him to bet more (offering bonus offers, paid trips, tickets to concerts and football matches).

It is known that he received these privileges after he lost 282,000 krona (almost $30,000) on bets in 10 days.

In this dispute, the gambler’s lawyer argued that the bookmaker breached the local law that prohibits contracts that are contrary to faith and honor, by luring the gambler into more betting instead of limiting his access.

However, the court ruled in favor of Betsson, finding no evidence of any violations. Nevertheless, this conflict is not over yet. The plaintiff’s lawyer said that he would appeal the decision.
