Women

Women now account for 32% of active gamblers in the UK, according to new data from fintech firm Department of Trust, as reported by iGB.

But while more women are placing bets, their average earnings trail men’s by 31% — a gap that also reflects in how much they stake and lose. The average age was 36 for both male and female gamblers.

On average, British men deposit £24.37 per month into gambling accounts, while women deposit £16.69.

Monthly losses follow a similar trend: men lose around £77.50, compared to £55 for women.

Researchers at the Department of Trust analyzed data from 270,702 unique players during Q4 of 2024. The study covered 7,499,564 deposits and nearly 1 million withdrawals.

For context: Department of Trust is the UK’s only firm focused exclusively on assessing financial vulnerability and verifying affordability in gambling.

Earlier this year, the UK’s gambling regulator also reported that 44% of women placed bets or participated in gambling activities in the four weeks leading up to the March 8 “Women and Gambling” report.
