Polymarket has announced the appointment of Donald Trump Jr., son of the U.S. President, to its advisory board, Reuters reported, citing the company’s official press release.
According to the release, Trump Jr. will assist the company with strategic development and provide guidance on its operations in the U.S. market.
In an official statement, Trump Jr. said that “the United States needs access to the world’s largest prediction market,” adding that he was pleased to support Polymarket’s mission “to bring truth and transparency worldwide.”
The project has previously faced criticism in the U.S. for operating in a “grey zone,” as the platform does not officially accept bets from American users. Last year, the FBI even raided the home of the company’s CEO, Shayne Coplan.
Notably, Trump Jr. also remains a strategic adviser to Polymarket’s competitor, Kalshi. His spokesperson told Front Office Sports that the Polymarket appointment does not affect his role at Kalshi: “Don is committed to supporting the prediction market industry as a whole and couldn’t be more excited about his new role with Polymarket.”
Meanwhile, Kalshi declined to comment on a situation that appears to represent a conflict of interest.
