The number of bettors placing wagers on the Super Bowl through legal U.S. bookmakers rose by 14% compared to last year, according to a press release from analytics firm GeoComply.

GeoComply representatives noted that some states saw betting activity nearly double from the previous year, particularly in regions where regulators cracked down on illegal sportsbooks over the past 12 months.

During Super Bowl weekend, GeoComply recorded more than 724,400 new online bookmaker accounts created in states where sports betting is legal.

The report also highlighted a 220% spike in active bookmaker users over Super Bowl weekend compared to the previous weekend.

“More fans are choosing legal sportsbooks, driven by stronger consumer protections and enhanced user experiences. This means even greater tax revenues to support local communities and promote responsible growth while reducing reliance on illegal sportsbooks,” said GeoComply Co-Founder and CEO Anna Sainsbury.
